Kang Li, FIChemE is Professor of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London and is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers. He has supervised 23 PhD students to completion as well as having supervised 16 post-doctoral researchers. Currently, he leads a research group at Imperial, consisting of 10 PhD students, 4 post-doctoral researchers and two visiting academics, to conduct multidisciplinary research in membrane science, solid oxide fuel cells, wastewater treatment, membrane catalysis, separation processes and reaction engineering. His commitment to working at interdisciplinary boundaries is evident by his involvement as an editor in Current Opinion in Chemical Engineering, Elsevier (Chemical Engineering), an editorial board member of Journal of Membrane Science, Elsevier (Membrane Technology) Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, Wiley (Chemical Technology) and Polymers, MDPI, Switzerland (Polymer Science) and as a guest editor in Reactive and Functional Polymers, Elsevier (Functional Polymers) and International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Elsevier (Energy). He has published over 230 research papers in internationally refereed journals (cited over 6100 times) with h-index of 43 (Web of Science, all databases) and has written a single authored book on Ceramic Membranes for Separation and Reaction (Wiley 2007). KL also has 5 patents and 3 patent applications and is a co-founder of Microtech Ceramics Ltd, a spin-out company from Imperial to commercialise a new catalytic converter for increased engine performance and improved emission control.
