Professor Davide Mattia

Davide Mattia is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, a past Royal Academy of Engineering Fellow and as Professor of Chemical Engineering he currently serves as Associate Dean (Research) in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Bath. He has over 60 peer-reviewed papers in the area of nanotechnology for environmental applications and is named as inventor on 3 patents. His h-index is 11. DM held a first grant from the EPSRC on nanotube membranes and was Co-I on an EPSRC Nanotechnology Grand Challenge for the Environment Award. He currently is Co-I on an EPSRC grant on sustainable chemical feedstocks and holds a TSB grant, two RS grants, all in the area of environmental nanotechnology. In 2014 he spent a 6-month sabbatical at the National University of Singapore working on the fabrication of hybrid polymer-ceramic membranes. His relevant expertise is in the design and manufacturing of nanostructured materials, carbon nanotube and inorganic composite membranes. He has supervised 4 PhD students to completion and currently supervises a group of 4 PhD students and 3 PDRAs focussing on developing novel membrane materials and processes for water treatment, production of nanomaterials and CO2 conversion. He is Materials Editor for Chemistry Central journal and was the Chair of the 2015 Royal Society Theo Murphy Scientific Meeting on “Nanotube membranes for breakthrough filtration applications: advancing the science, engineering and design’.
