Dr. Ehsan Jorat

Introduction and background

I am currently working as a Research Associate in Geotechnical Engineering on the SUCCESS project (Sustainable Urban Carbon Capture: Engineering Soils for Climate Change) funded by EPSRC.  My role involves designing and implementing field experiments to monitor geotechnical properties of the field during the carbonation process, assess the impact of soil carbonation on flood risk and determine a validation process for measuring the carbonation process.

I’m a geotechnical engineer by training and have been working on advanced geotechnical investigation of on-shore and off-shore soft sediments. I completed my undergraduate studies in the field of Civil Engineering and worked as a technician in laboratory of geotechnics at a geotechnical consultant company in Iran. In 2008, I started my Master's studies at University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) and following completion of my studies, I worked as a research assistant at the laboratory of geotechnics at UTM. In 2011, I was awarded a PhD scholarship to conduct my studies in a cooperative program between University of Bremen in Germany and University of Waikato in New Zealand which I successfully completed in July 2014. From June 2014 until October 2014, I worked as post-doctoral career at University of Bremen.
