Richard and Neil Talbot were invited in February 2002 by Westminster Abbey and the Maritime Air Trust to conceive, design and carve a tribute to honour past and future operations of RAF Coastal Command including Allied aircrew that helped win the Battle of the Atlantic in 1943.
We were nominated because of our studio practices in sculpture and drawing, skills in illusionistic relief carving and our particular interests in problems relating to depiction.
