The Portuguese Society of Rheology

 

After some years as an informal group of rheologists, the decision to constitute a formal Society was taken some time ago. An Installing Committee of the Portuguese Society of Rheology was constituted by:

President: Professor António Correia Diogo (I.S.T., Lisboa)

Voters: Professor José Gomes Covas (University of Minho, Braga)

Professor Maria Pilar Gonçalves (F.E.U.P., Porto)

Eng. Manuel Frias de Almeida e Sá, Eng. (CMP / EME, Lisboa)

and the Portuguese Society of Rheology was formally constituted on December 11, 1997 (VAT number 504 030 108).

The first Electoral Meeting was in May 7, 1998. The Constitution of the Portuguese Society of Rheology was approved there. The full text is given in Appendix.

According to the Constitution of the Portuguese Society of Rheology, any individual or entity which has applied for membership before May 7, 1998 was considered as founder member of the Society. The list of founder members includes 68 individuals and collective entities and it is also given in Appendix.

The Council Boards were also elected on May 7, 1998. Their elected members were:

The General Meeting of May 7, 1998, approved (by unanimity) the application of the Portuguese Society of Rheology for membership of the International Committee of Rheology and of the European Society of Rheology.
