Odborná skupina reologie pri Ceské spolecnosti chemické

The Czech Group of Rheology was founded on May 24, 1968, at the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. Among the 21 founding fathers present on this day were enthusiasts from the following institutions: Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals mentioned above, chair of Physics of the University of Chemical Technology, Rubber Enterprise in Kralupy n. Vltavou, chair of General Physics of the Charles University, Department of Chemical and Process Equipment Design on the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, Institute of Hydrodynamics of the Czechoslovak Academy of Science, Plastimat Plastics Production Enterprise in Liberec, Research Institute of Paint and Varnish Substances.

The first chairman of the group was Professor J.J. Ulbrecht. In 1970, the Czech Group of Rheology became a member of the International Committee on Rheology. Since that time, almost every four years national conferences dealing with theoretical as well as applied rheology were held.

In 1986, the Czech Group of Rheology together with the Institute of Hydrodynamics of the Academy of Science organized the 2nd European Rheology Conference in Prague. In March 1997, a joint conference of the German Society of Rheology (DRG) and of the Czech Group of Rheology was held in Chemnitz, FRG.

At present, the Czech Group of Rheology has about 50 members.
