OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE
Understanding, controlling and manipulating the morphology of complex fluids is one of the most important current objectives of the science of materials. Among the most interesting systems are liquid crystalline polymers, surfactants and block copolymers, all of which feature intrinsic structural organisation.Recent developments in rheo-physical instruments and experimental methods (rheo-optics, neutron, NMR, X-rays, etc.) are opening the way to a more advanced understanding of the relationships between flow, morphology and rheology. Theoretical methods in the description of complex fluids under flow have similarly seen substantial recent development.
These considerations motivated a number of European research groups to come together to form a Research Network sponsored by the Training and Mobility of Researchers programme of the European Community. One of the objectives of the network is to stimulate scientific exchanges among researchers coming from different disciplines by organising the present conference.
