Dr. Jon Telling participates in 5th MINAR event

Dr. Jon Telling participated on the 5th analogue mission Mine Analogue Research (MINAR 5) program at one kilometre depth in the Boulby Mine, UK. The MINAR program, led by Professor Charles Cockell at the UK Astrobiology Centre (Edinburgh University, UK), is developing and testing instruments and methods for the robotic and human exploration of deep environments on the Moon and Mars (https://www.astrobiology.ac.uk/research/astrobiological-analogues/minar/minar-2017).

Dr. Jon Telling led a collaborative team from Newcastle University and Durham University investigating the sources of gases trapped in evaporite (salt) minerals from the mine; analogues for evaporite deposits documented on the surface of Mars.
