Ideas to eat more pulses

Legumes or pulses such as lentils, beans,  broadbeans and dry peas, are nutritious and versatile foods providing you with good quality protein and dietary fibre.

  1. Beans on toast. A British favourite. Quick, easy and nutritious.
  2. Soup. A bowl of soup can be a filling, warming and comforting food in the winter. Pulses can be the main ingredients of soups such as Fasolada, a traditional Greek bean soup, or one of several ingredients such as in Minestrone soup.
  3. Add pulses to stews. Lentils and beans are key ingredients to Mediterranean stews.
  4. Add pulses to salads. Beans and lentils may give a special touch to salads.
  5. Humus. Humus, made of chickpeas, although other pulses such as black beans can be used as alternatives, can be a component of sandwiches or used as an appetizer.
  6. Roasted chickpeas or broad beans are popular to nibble.
