Professor Diane Richardson

Diane has a long standing interest in the fields of gender and sexuality, especially the areas of sexual citizenship, which is grounded in the materiality of everyday life and in feminist politics. She has led numerous research projects, including an ESRC funded project on the implementation of sexualities equalities policies in the UK. From 2013-2016 she was funded by a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship entitled 'Transforming Citizenship: Sexuality, Gender and Citizenship Struggles'. This project developed some of the themes that arose out of the women and citizenship post-trafficking in Nepal project. She is currently Professor of Sociology at Newcastle and co-editor for a book series for Palgrave Macmillan entitled ‘Genders and Sexualities in the Social Sciences’. Her new book entitled Sexuality and Citizenship will be published by Polity in October 2017.
