Alzheimer's Society visit the lab

On the 3rd July members of the North East Alzheimer's Society were given a tour of the dementia research facilities based at the Campus for Ageing and Vitality organised by lab members Lauren and Alice.  The day included on overview of the research activites currently being undetraken as part of the Alzheimer's Society funded Doctoral Training Centre, as well as some of the major project grants.  The team were then given a tour of the labs including the Newcastle Brain Tissue Resource, where the process of brain donation for research projects was explained, followed by a tour of the Brain and Movement group who are interested in gait as a biomaker for different subtypes of dementia.

The day finished with a lively discussion about the diverse range of Alzheimer's Society funded research taking place at Newcastle University and a strengthened relationship between researchers and the Alzheimer's Society fundraising team!
