What Do We Do?

Musculoskeletal Research is a multidisciplinary business.

Our goal is to understand the mechanisms underlying musculoskeletal diseases.

We aim to provide results and discoveries that can be translated into diagnostics, treatments or therapies to reduce global health burdens.

Our focus is on delivering effective treatments to the large number of patients with musculoskeletal disorders.

We are a highly interdisciplinary group bringing together expertise in genetics, immunology, rheumatology, orthopaedics, engineering and other disciplines.

Newcastle hosts several key Centres of Research Excellence and has an active research programme with direct patient benefit as the key driver behind all of our Translational Projects.

In addition to our teaching roles here in the Faculty of Medical Sciences we engage in an exciting range of scientific and educational programmes.
