Caspar Hewett as proud father of a flume in Republic of Macedonia

Caspar Hewett with newly built flume for measuring flow at research site in Macedonia

Caspar Hewett has seventeen years of research experience in academia and industry and has taught and lectured a variety of subjects including mathematics, philosophy of science, evolutionary theory, environmental issues and English as a Foreign Language. He is chair of The Great Debate, a group that organises courses, day schools, public discussions and workshops on topics including modern Darwinian theory, human nature, consciousness, development, sustainability and environment. He has worked in Greece, Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, South Africa, Turkey, UK and USA. Caspar is on the Management Committee of the United Nation Regional Centre of Expertise (UN RCE) North East, has been a member of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Peer Review College since July 2005 and was a NESTA Crucible Awardee 2006.

Caspar's current activities include consultancy work for the Environment Agency; lecturing in market research techniques, mathematics for engineers and engineering ethics for Newcastle University; and development of the North East Education for Sustainable Development programme. His research interests include finite difference methods, the notion of progress, modern theories of human nature and sustainable development.
