An International Conference on Banach Algebras and Cohomology will be held to mark the outstanding scientific contributions and the retirement of Barry Johnson at Newcastle University, England from 9.00 Monday 25th June till 2.00pm on Thursday 28th June 2001.

Schedule of lectures for Banach Algebras and Cohomology ( We would be greatly obliged if you would not ask us to alter the schedule. )
The programme will consist of several 45-minute and 30-minute talks of colloquium style and there will be many more specialized talks of 30 minutes given in two parallel sections in the afternoons on Monday, Tuesday and in the mornings on Wednesday and Thursday. On the afternoon of Wednesday 27th June there will be three talks accessible to a wider audience, followed by a banquet at which Professor and Mrs Johnson will be guests of honour.
An outing will be arranged for Sunday 24th June.

In Castle Leazes Hall there are 1,000 single and twin bedrooms all with wash hand basin (at 20 pounds per person per night), these have shared shower and bathroom facilities. A further 6 flats are available each with their own bathroom facility and kitchen (these are 35 pounds per person per night).
Hotel accommodation costs between 45 pounds and 65 pounds per night.

A taxi from Central Station to Castle Leazes Hall would cost about 3 pounds. From Newcastle airport it would cost about 7 pounds. It would take about 25 minutes to walk from Haymarket Metro Station to the Hall.

Registration will be from 16.00 till 19.30 on Saturday 23rd June and from 16.00 till 19.30 on Sunday 24th June in Castle Leazes Hall.
There will be a registration fee of 35 pounds. The conference
pays for lunches and coffee breaks.
There will be no registration fee for those attending on
Wednesday afternoon only, and we can arrange accommodation for them.
Payment for accommodation at Castle Leazes Hall and the registration fee are to be made during registration in Castle Leazes Hall on 23 or 24 June. There will also be a charge of about 25 pounds per person for those attending the banquet on Wednesday and a charge of about 9 pounds for those going to the excursion, also on registration.
For accommodation, it is advisable either to pay with travellers' cheques or cheques drawn on British banks (to be payable to University of Newcastle upon Tyne) or cash in pounds. There are significant charges for paying by Euro cheques or by credit cards. Some credit cards (e.g. ``American express" and ``Diners' Club") are not acceptable at all.
Payment for the registration fee, the banquet and the excursion can be made by cheques drawn on British banks (to be payable to ICBACN) or by cash in pounds.
