DEVELOPMENT OF A SELF-GUIDED TRAIL AROUND THE CATHEDRAL
External Partners: English Heritage, Newcastle and Newcastle Cathedral

This topic would familiarise a student with the architecture and history of the Cathedral, and thus architectural features of medieval and later church buildings in general. At the present time, a guide book and several trails are available at St Nicholas’ Cathedral (including a ‘Window Trail’ and a ‘St. Nicholas Trail’ for children), but no self-guided trail for adults (or families) exploring all the key features of the building. Such a trail would further to highlight the presence and importance of the cathedral in the city. It would also be a timely addition to the ongoing ‘Heart of the City’ Project.

The topic would be ideal for anyone with an interest in presentation and interpretation issues.
