The Child, the First World War, and North America

This international conference, titled 'From the Garden to the Trenches':The Child, the First World War, and North America, examined the the impact of the First World War on childhood from a North American perspective. Building on the outcomes of the first conference, held at the University of Technology Sydney in 2011, it delved more deeply into the relationship between childhood cultures and the culture of war.
The conference offered the opportunity to investigate the Osborne Collection of Early Children's Books, which includes unique examples of children's literature from before and during this period.
