Conferences

We are running an international conference 18-22 July 2011 on the theme of ‘Interdisciplinary progress in environmental science and management’.

The International Conferences on Environmental Future (ICEFs) are a distinguished series, the first of which preceded the historic 1972 Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. At this time, 'interdisciplinary' thinking is considered key to solving environmental problems, but it is unclear what this thinking is or would be and how it might be progressed in future.

The 6th ICEF aims to explore the current and potential future extent and nature of interdisciplinary research and management practice across the environmental domain. The conference will draw on the wide ranging experiences and perspectives of 80 agreed speakers from 22 different countries together with those of up to 270 other registered participants. The 6th ICEF aims to inform senior scientists, environmental managers and policy formers and encourage debate about the nature and future extent of environmental 'interdisciplinarity'.
