Fine Art, School of Arts and Cultures, is delighted to present a public weekly programme of research lectures and seminars from some of the most interesting and original artists, critics, curators, historians and art professionals working today.
Speakers are invited whose work relates to topical research and teaching themes being explored by staff, undergraduate students, postgraduate students and researchers of Fine Art, School of Arts and Cultures and is a significant element of Fine Art’s unique commitment to research that tests established boundaries and methodologies.
The Lecture programme is intended to transcend traditional discussion boundaries. We have instigated a web based forum to encourage discussion instigated by the programme to continue outside the lecture theatre. We welcome you to argue and explore the weekly themes.
This Programme is complimented by school based research activities such as connecting principles and the excellent series of gallery talks and lectures organised by the Hatton Gallery.
We are indebted to the Bartlett Bequest to Fine Art which has enabled the Visiting speakers programme.
Past Visitors have included, Ruut Blees Luxemburg, Saskia Oberwalder, Monica Ross, Marcus Coates, Mike Stubbs, Claudia Wegner, Stephan Gec, Toby Patterson and Tomoko Takahashi.
All presentations take place in the Fine Art Lecture Theatre,
University of Newcastle Map.
The visitors programme is co-ordinated by Nadia Hebson, lecturer in Fine Art. Please feel free to make suggestions to our programme of weekly speakers.
