Simone Aaberg Kærn is an artist and pilot. Her art practice is conceptual/context based with a performative component in most of her projects. She investigates the socio-political aspects of flying and freedom in the context of control and military use of airspace. She has worked on the battlefields in Libya, trained air combat with the Swedish Air Force and busted the air space of war zone Afghanistan with her small airplane. Her work on women pilots in military service, got her kicked out of Goldsmiths, yet was exhibited at the 48th Venice Biennale. Her movie, based on a micro global art performance,  “Smiling in a war Zone" was nominated for an International Emmy.
