‘A Natural History of Disaster’

Prof. Andrew Patrizio is a curator and art historian based at Edinburgh College of Art since 1997. He is currently working on a collaborative project with Glasgow-based artist Ilana Halperin and Rhode Island-based volcanic archaeologist Dr Karen Holmberg concerning their shared interest in narratives, geology and disasters.

In the talk he will introduce this work-in-progress in the hope of initiating a wide-ranging discussion. Andrew Patrizio was a curator at the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne (2000-2), Hayward Gallery/Touring (1994-7), and Glasgow Museums (1989-1993).

He has authored texts on Stefan Gec, art & anatomy, Scottish sculpture and Darwin's influence on contemporary art. He has been on the Board of the Fruitmarket Gallery, a Sub-Panel member of RAE2008 (Art & Design) and is currently co-curating an exhibition on sports science and contemporary arts with the Scotland and Medicine Partnership for 2012.
