The E.G. West Centre is based in the School of Education, Communication, and Language Sciences, Newcastle University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. The Centre was established in March 2002 and is the UK’s only university research centre dedicated to understanding the role of choice, competition and entrepreneurship in the delivery of "Education for All".

In accordance with the mission of Newcastle University the E.G. West Centre strives to carry out world class research to develop knowledge and understanding of the role of private education in achieving 'Education for All'. To this end the Centre researches and analyses private education in developing countries. Advice is provided to governments and international agencies on the development of non-state education and conducive regulatory and investment environments.
