Jonathan A. Allen

 

  • Jonathan A. Allan is Canada Research Chair in Queer Theory and Associate Professor of Gender and Women’s Studies and English and Creative Writing at Brandon University. His first book, Reading from Behind: A Cultural Analysis of the Anus (University of Regina Press and Zed Books, 2016), is a study of anality and masculinity in literary and cultural theory. With Cristina Santos and Adriana Spahr, her is a co-editor of Virgin Envy: The Cultural (In)Significance of the Hymen (University of Regina Press and Zed Books, 2016). Dr. Allan is currently writing, Uncut: A Cultural Analysis of the Foreskin (University of Regina Press), which brings together literary theory, religious studies, the biomedical sciences, and critical theory to study the foreskin. His research largely attends to questions of masculinity, sexuality, and the body.
