The Tyne Tunnel, connecting Wallsend in North Tyneside with Jarrow in South Tyneside. As well as the Pedestrian and Cyclist tunnels (opened in 1951), there are now two motor vehicle tunnels: the first opened in 1967, and the second was completed in 2011.
