Aad van Moorsel

Aad is a Professor in Distributed Systems and Head of School at the School of Computing Science, which he joined in 2004 having previously been a postdoc at University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, researcher at Bell Labs/Lucent Technologies in Murray Hill and then a research manager at Hewlett-Packard Labs in Palo Alto, all in the United States. His research group develops tools and techniques to make Internet use safer for people and businesses, mostly based on quantitative methods. He is the Newcastle lead of the GCHQ/EPSRC Research Institute in the Science of Cyber Security, PI for the EPSRC Network on Cyber Crime, Technology Director for the Social Inclusion through the Digital Economy hub and PI for the EPSRC sponsored Hyper-Privacy project with a local women charity.
