Jared Bowers is a PhD Researcher at Newcastle University who has worked and researched in tourism and community development in several countries around the world. Specific roles have ranged from ecotourism consultant and manager to land policy advisor. His research interests are in the processes of sustainable tourism development and the management of natural and cultural heritage resources. He received an MSc in Ecotourism from Edinburgh Napier University (UK), and a BA in Communications from Elon University (NC, USA). He is currently working towards his PhD on using ecomuseology principles as a management tool in developing sustainable tourism in the Rupununi region of Guyana.
