I am 23 and from Wakefield, West Yorkshire. My background is in biochemisty, biotechnology and Genetics. I'm currently in my first year studying for an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) at Newcastle University, which is industrially focused. In collaboration between Scottish Bioenergy and the Schools of Chemical Engineering and Marine Science, my project involves the scale up and optimisation of an algae photobioreactor which utilizes carbon dioxide and distillery wastewater for the sustainable production of pharmaceutical lipids. My research is based mainly at the Dove Marine Laboratory, Cullercoats.
